The audio launch of director Rohith V S's latest Iblis was held at Kochi. Chief guest Mammootty did the honours. Also present were actors Asif Ali, Madonna Sebastian, Lal, Master Adhish, and composer Dawn Vincent. Iblis is Rohith's second film after his debut Adventures of Omanakuttan. It's also his second collaboration with Asif Ali, who played the lead in Omanakuttan.
Asif says the film's title is a reference to his character, who is always up to some mischief. "Rohith first told me the idea after we were done shooting Omanakuttan, a movie that brought me much joy. I felt Iblis was a fresh idea. Usually when such exciting ideas are brought forward, there is a possibility that they might not make it to the big screen. And Rohith has already proved through Omanakuttan that he is capable of bringing alive his vision on screen. That's what gave me the courage to say yes to him."
Iblis is Madonna Sebastian's third Malayalam film after Premam and King Liar. She says, "I've been waiting to see a film like this in Malayalam cinema for a long time. I'm thankful to Rohith for making me a part of it. I understood the level of detailing only after reading the script. It's going to be very fresh and very entertaining. The entire team was incredible to work with."
Iblis has music by Dawn Vincent. The two video songs revealed at the event suggest a colourful and whimsical entertainer. Rohith had told us earlier that Iblis is an experimental narrative just like Omanakuttan even though it's stylistically different. According to him, Iblis is set in a far away, utopian village where people make puppets. Also part of the supporting cast are Siddique, Sreenath Bhasi, Saiju Kurup and Aju Varghese. Iblis is produced by Ichais Productions and will release on August 3.
