AGRA: A 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in Agra by hanging herself from a celing fan at her house after her father reportedly denied food to her family for three days.
Identified as Durgesh, a resident of Prakash Nagar, the girl took the extreme step late on Friday while her mother and sister were sleeping in another room.
The girl’s body was recovered on Saturday morning.
According to the police, the girl left a three-page suicide note in which she accused her father Nekram, elder brother Dinesh, grandmother Ramrati and aunt Bhagwan Devi, of abetting for suicide.
The suicide note read, “…I’m done with this painful life, where my father has denied us food for three days on the behest of my grandmother and aunt. My elder brother too didn’t spare the opportunity to make our (girl, her mother and her sister) lives worse then hell. He sat our entire home on fire. Police must arrest these four people who are responsible for my death.”
According to a police source, “Durgesh was second the youngest child among her six siblings of which four are married. Three days ago, her father Nekram, who is a plumber by profession, left their house with his mother Ramrati to live at his sister's home Bhagwan Devi, leaving behind Durgesh, her sister Preeti and wife.”
Kamlesh Kumar Singh, the SHO of Itmad-ud-daula said, “Durgesh was the victim of a family feud and drunk father. Her elder brother Dinesh set the entire home on fire few months back over a property dispute with his younger brother, after which Nekram decided to move out of the home with his mother, although he had responsibility for his wife and two teenage daughters too. For the last three days, Nekram did not provide any food to them after which heartbroken Durgesh committed suicide.”
“Based on her suicide note, we have filed a case under section 306 (abetment for suicide) against Nekram, Dinesh, Ramrati and Bhagwan Devi. We have arrested the father and brother and sent them to jail,” he added.
