Sonowal seeks help from Amol Palekar for Assamese film sector

Sarbananda today sought help from in charting out a roadmap for the development of Assamese film industry.

"requested him (Palekar) to align with the local film personalities and help in charting out a broad roadmap for the development of the industry," an official release from the chief minister's office said.

As films are the best means to represent the state to the world, requested Palekar to use his experience for the promotion of regional cinemas and assured him that the entire film fraternity of would be with him in this journey, it added.

"They also talked on a Film Policy for which will essentially act as a guide line for taking Assamese cinema forward," the CMO statement said.

Palekar appreciated the will and initiative of Sonowal for taking substantial policy decisions for the development of to enable people to look at the heritage of the state through cultural lens, the statement claimed.

"Palekar appeared happy on the pioneering role that the film personalities from Assam such as and are playing, who have also been working in tandem for the promotion of regional cinema, besides Bollywood movies," the release said.
