Vadodara: With overcast skies and mild drizzles, it was a perfect Sunday to getaway from the city and enjoy the environs around. And, Gujaratis made the most of it by thronging the Hathani Mata waterfalls – one of the popular tourist spots located about 80 kilometres from Vadodara city. Hundreds of enthusiasts were seen bathing in the waterfalls by perching on the rocks.
“We came here last year but it was a little late. So, this time when we heard that the waterfall has started, we immediately rushed here,” said Chetan Soni, a resident of Ahmedabad. The waterfalls located in Ghoghamba taluka of Panchmahals district start after the area receives heavy rainfall every monsoon.
Another visitor, Rimpal Panchal, a resident of Halol, said, “I have been coming here for years. Earlier, not many people visited Hathani Mata falls but over last few years, the number of visitors has increased. But there are not much facilities for the tourists. The government should declare this as a tourist spot and develop the surrounding areas.” This waterfall is named after Hathani Maata’s temple located in the area.
