LUDHIANA: KP Brar would be the new Municipal Commissioner of Ludhiana. Brar is expected to join early next week. Notably The development comes following the transfer of Jaskiran Singh as director rural development and panchayats. Jaskiran Singh had been serving here in MC since March 2017 and he was the one who had replaced Brar at that time. Brar has been serving as deputy commissioner Fatehgarh Sahib and will be joining the post next week.

KP Brar has served as MC Commissioner in 2016-17 amidst controversy regarding removal of hoardings of SAD BJP. She was transferred and again appointed in two months’ time as MC Commissioner Ludhiana. Known to be a hard task master and a tough administrator, Brar has not been able to complete her full tenure at one post most of the times.

“She is a tough administrator and in her past postings she has never bothered about political bosses. This was the reason, she did not remain on one post for long time. It remains to be seen how long she will be here when the MC is already in deep financial crisis,” said a senior official.

Jaskiran Singh, who is an ex service man in Indian Army, has served at various other positions in many districts. Jaskiran Singh has served as the deputy commissioner Mukatsar, Sangrur and Kapurthala.

Meanwhile JK Jain is likely to join as additional commissioner in MC and joint commissioner Anita Darshi has been transferred to Moga.
