Weather Update: Cold and dry day ahead

Most of the country will experience cold and dry weather on Monday.

Very cold conditions are expected along the escarpment and over the southern Highveld of Mpumalanga until tomorrow.

Rain

Isolated showers can be expected across the Northern Cape and the Karoo of the Western Cape.

The rest of the country remains dry.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures will be cool across most the country and extremely cold conditions are expected over the central interior.

The coldest place will be Bethlehem in the Free State, dropping to a below-freezing -3°C.

Maximum temperatures will be cold throughout most of the country. Very cold weather conditions are expected in Ermelo in Mpumalanga. Cool weather is expected along the coast line and the East Coast.

The hottest place is Alexander Bay in the Northern Cape, with a high of 28°C.

Pretoria will reach a high of 18°C, while Johannesburg is expected to reach 16°C, and Bloemfontein is expected to experience a maximum of 17°C.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth will reach highs of 21°C, while Durban will reach a maximum of 19°C.
