PATIALA: As many as sixteen
AAP workers submitted their resignation in
Patiala district following the alleged expulsion of party's rural unit chief president on Sunday.
The Aam Aadmi Party rural district president
Gian Singh Mango claimed that he was expelled by the state co-president Dr Balbir Singh without any intimation or show cause notice.
He claimed earlier Dr Balbir had raised objections over the visit of leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira to his house in Nabha and was unhappy.
“I was neither given any reasons nor served any show cause notice rather I came to know on WhatsApp about the same. Dr Balbir was annoyed after he came to know that Khaira had visited my house and then again I had attended his meeting here in Patiala. We respect the party and thus we attended the leader of opposition (LOP) of the party and not any individual," said, Mango adding that working of Dr Balbir was like that of a dictator.
On Sunday, however, following the news of expulsion of Mango, many AAP workers including the rural vice president and general secretary Pradeep Malhotra also said to have resigned from their posts.
There are talks around the party cadres over Mango’s expulsion that Dr Balbir was angry with many other party cadres who are meeting and attending the visits of AAP leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
In the past two weeks, AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira had visited Patiala district twice.
Dr Balbir, however, refuted the allegations and claimed that Mango was not thrown out of his post but was only removed.
“I had just removed him to give another leader the charge and responsibility. His job was a full time following which he was unable to give time for the party activities. We are doing this for the welfare of the party.”
