The rains that lashed some parts of the district claimed the life of a boy in Madhwar village in Yadgir taluk late on Friday night.
Mahesh, 12, died after a portion of the roof collapsed on him while he was sleeping, sources said.
Channamallappa Ghanti, Yadgir tahsildar, on Saturday promised the family to release compensation under the Natural Disaster Management guidelines.
The roof had weakened owing to rain and a portion of it suddenly collapsed on the victim at night, family sources said.
A case has been registered in Saidapur police station.
