Shridhar Chillal cuts his fingernails after 66 years
The man with the longest fingernails ever recorded, Shridhar Chillal from Pune, had them cut off in Times Square, New York.
The 82-year-old retired photographer, had been growing his nails since 1952 and when their length was last measured, they stretched 909.6 cm long combined and his longest single nail (the thumbnail) measured 197.8 cm.

While some found it fascinating. Some found it impressive. Others found it absolutely disgusting. The fact is that his were the longest measured nails ever recorded. Just to put that into perspective: it's about the same length as a London bus or Cessna 172 airplane. It's also around the same length as Michael Powell's record-breaking long jump from 1991.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum in Times Square will preserve and exhibit his nails.
