A 24-year-old drug addict allegedly committed suicide in the city, police said today.
Nawab Nazir Shah allegedly hanged himself at his house in Qureshinagar in suburban Chunabhatti last evening, said a police official.
Shah was a drug addict, and was apparently upset after his father refused to give him money yesterday, said senior police inspector Madhav More.
He went to a room, bolted the door and allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling with a scarf, the police officer said.
He was declared dead before admission at the hospital, inspector More said, adding that probe was on.
