MEDININAGAR: Seven persons were arrested for allegedly promoting superstitions at Jamune village in Palamau district today, police said.

A police team conducted raid in the village and arrested seven persons for allegedly promoting superstitions after a man named Manrup Bhuiyan, who was declared mentally unsound by the accused, registered a case in this regard yesterday, Superintendent of Police, Indrajeet Mahatha said.

After branding Manrup mentally unsound, the accused have taken him to Garwah for treatment with an Ojha (quack) on Thursday, the SP said adding that Manrup, however, managed to escape from the clutches of the Ojha and returned to Medininagar to register a case.
