BHOPAL: While maintaining that the word impossible doesn't feature in his dictionary, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan promised on Saturday to transform the state's Malwa region into London, by ensuring that every inch of land in the region is rendered adequate irrigation.

Chouhan's newest promise came just a week after he announced in Sagar district on July 7 that cities and town in the state would be developed better than cities and towns of the US.

"For the erstwhile Congress regime in the state linking Narmada river with Kshipra river was impossible, but impossible word has no place in my dictionary. We've successfully brought Narmada water to Kshipra river and will soon bring Narmada water to Gambir river. Similar linking would be done with Kalisindh and Parvati rivers. We'll transform entire Malwa into London by ensuring that every inch of agricultural land in the region has adequate irrigation," Chouhan promised while addressing large gathering in Ujjain town just before launching his statewide Jan Ashirwad Yatra.

Earlier, on July 7, while addressing a public gathering in Sagar district of Bundelkhand, Chouhan had promised to develop cities and towns of the state better than cities and town of the US over the next five years.

Taking a dig at opposition Congress on Saturday for mocking his last year statements that roads in MP were in better condition than roads in the US, Chouhan said "Congress is afflicted with a slave mindset, hence they can never imagine that we're better than the west on various counts. I still stick to my last year's statements about many of our roads being better than those in the US. Further I promise that remaining roads too will be made better than the US."In October 2017, during his trip to the US, Chouhan had claimed that condition of roads in MP was better than those in the US. He had also cited a report to claim that 92 per cent roads in Washington were in "poor shape."

Responding to the CM's latest promise of turning Malwa into London, State Congress spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi said "such statements suggest that the CM is a day-dreamer. Instead of making false promises, he should come to terms with the reality exposed best during recent rains in state capital Bhopal only.

The Mayor of Bhopal, who too is a BJP man was forced to sit on dharna in waterlogged parts of Bhopal and still the CM says he is taking the state ahead of developed countries."
