Govt will not bow down to threats of the employees : CM Yogi

Giving a stern warning to the agitating lekhpals Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the government will not bow down to threats of the employees and their union saying that only work will get recognition in this government..

“I want to make it clear that this government will not bow down to any pressure tactic by the employees and their union as only work would be considered for their future benefits,” he said while addressing the 52nd annual conference of the UP Commercial Taxes Service Association here on Friday.

Mincing no words to hit out at employee union Chief Minister Adityanath said it was unfortunate that the employees association are working like a trade union and pressurising the government for their unethical demands.

His warning was aimed towards the on-going strike of Lekhpals which is still continuing despite assurance from the government to solve their demands and a subsequent meeting with Chief Secretary Dr Anup Chandra Pandey earlier this week.          

When the officials of the Commercial Taxes Services Association appealed to the CM to consider their long pending demands, he said agitation is not a remedy for forcing the government to accept their demand. “Only talks can bring out an amicable solution and this government is ready to have discussions on the legitimate issues,” he said.

 However, the Chief Minister asked the Commercial Taxes officials to work for preventing tax theft and appealed to traders to connect with GST and give honest assessment of the trade as it will benefit the country’s policy of one nation, one tax.

Claiming that UP is the biggest consumer state in the country and hence there is big potential of GST revenue, the Chief Minister said during the past three months the revenue collection of the government was very good where the traders registered in the GST has increased from 7 lakh to 13 lakh. 

He said the government has always cared for the employees and UP is one of the states in the country which has implemented the seventh pay commission whereas in some state they have only implemented 5th pay commission till now.

Adityanath said this year the officials have a big target to collect Rs 71,000 crore but if they work honestly then the state’s revenue could surpass Rs one lakh crore.

Meanwhile, even after announcing strict action and  suspension of around 1500 agitating Lekhpals, the strike called by the Lekhpal continued on Friday.

The UP government had suspended around 1500 Lekhpals when they refused to work till their demands are met. The state government had clamped ESMA to restrict the Lekhpals from going on strike but still the government could do nothing so far.

But due to the strike, administrative works in the rural areas have affected for the past 10 days. There are around  36,000 Lekhpals in the state.
