₹52.20 lakh disbursed to 16 MBBS Adi Dravidar students

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Friday distributed financial assistance for students from the Adi Dravidar community who were admitted under the government quota in private medical colleges through the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac).

Under the Dr. Ambedkar Financial Assistance Scheme, financial assistance was disbursed to students selected through Centac and studying in private self-financing medical/engineering colleges in the Union Territory.

According to an official release, ₹52.20 lakh was distributed among 16 MBBS students under the scheme. For the first time, assistance of ₹20.57 lakh was distributed to three postgraduate students.

With this, the Department of Adi Dravidar Welfare has distributed financial assistance of ₹72.77 lakh to 19 students this academic year. Social Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy, Chief Secretary Ashwani Kumar and Development Commissioner A. Anbarasu were present.
