Three persons were arrested in connection with a number of vehicle theft, house break-in and chain-snatching cases on Friday.
Two mini trucks, an auto, three two-wheelers, jewellery, TVs and weapons were seized from M. Anand (24) of Omsakthi Nagar, G. Ajith Kumar(23) of Mullakadu and A. Murugan (28) of Thiraviapuram.
They were caught during vehicle checks, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (Thoothukudi town) Prakash. A team led by Inspector S. Thangakrishnan attached to the Thalamuthu Nagar police station, nabbed the accused when they came in a stolen autorickshaw near Thalamuthu Nagar. The accused allegedly snatched chains from women and stole mobile phones of lorry drivers besides breaking into houses. The DSP said that Anand and Ajith Kumar were history-sheeters.
