Nagpur: The world has changed drastically over a period of time in the face of globalization and change in the taste of people, especially youngsters, due to which
social values have been eroding fast. This was the refrain of most of the
elders at a meet held at CP & Berar College Sabhagruh, Reshimbagh, on Friday.
The initiative — ‘Lokmanya Vyaspeeth’ — has been launched by Lokmanya Sanskrutik Va Krida Mandal in which people will be given an opportunity to speak their mind out on subjects close to their heart. A brainchild of Raman Senad and Avinash Telang, the event will be held on the second Saturday of every month at corporation ground, Reshimbagh, in which various topics will be covered.
Former MP Datta Meghe presided over the programme while retired judge of the family court Meera Khadakkar was the guest of honour.
‘Kutumbatil Samvad Va Jyeshthanchi Bhoomika’ was the topic on which nearly 10-12 people spoke passionately about familial values, how social fabric has changed and how the elders are finding themselves at the receiving end in the changed circumstances.
Khadakkar shared her experience as judge of the family court and said a fine balance should be maintained between work and family life to avoid disputes and litigations.
Meghe blamed the parents for change in the attitude of their children. “When parents give property and money to them, they also hand them over power to exploit and neglect them.”
Meghe promised to donate Rs1 lakh to an NGO every year as long as he’s alive as his duty towards society.
Rugved Senad conducted the programme.
