CHENNAI: The fake passport wing of the Central Crime Branch on Friday arrested two more persons for supporting a racket that helps Sri Lankan Tamil refugees travel to other countries on the fake Indian passports.
The accused were identified as S Devika (38) and S Krishnaraj (37), both Sri Lankan Tamils who were staying in Kundrathur on fake identity cards. The racket was busted, following a tip-off and a raid on a travel agency in Triplicane.Eleven persons, including the kingpin, Veerakumar, were arrested on June 25.
Veerakumar, a native of Tuticorin, has many cases pending against him for stealing minerals and real estate frauds.
He contested the 2016 Assembly elections from Sriperumbudur on behalf of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). Police officials had also seized 80 Indian and 12 Sri Lankan fake passports, one laptop, hard disks, scam machines, printers, duplicate seals, fake Visa and `85,000 in cash.
