The police in Assam have arrested two persons for their involvement in raping and killing two women at two running trains at separate locations of the State and said that investigations are on to find out whether more people are involved in the serial killings.

Additional Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia said that the two accused, Bikash Das alias Bexmohan Das and Bipin Pandey, were arrested from two different locations after series of raids by the police on Thursday night.

He said that the two used some kinds of substance to make the victims unconscious initially. “They also confessed to have raped the victims before killing them,” he said adding that both the killers were habitual offenders, who used to loot the train passengers by applying chloroform or similar substance.

“The Assam police, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) jointly swung into action after two women were found dead in two trains on Tuesday and Wednesday. The pattern of the crimes were same,” Saikia said adding that this led the police team to believe that similar persons were involved in the crime.
