Two short plays ‘Yes, Sir’ and ‘Vigrah Babu’ marked the conclusion of the three-day theatre festival. The plays were staged here on Friday at Shaheed Bhavan auditorium.

It is to be noted that the theatre festival was organised by Rang Vidushak theatre troupe, Bhopal.

Various genres of the drama were presented before the Bhopal theatre lovers. On Friday two plays that showcased the other side of the mirror were staged.

Yes Sir is about a peon in a government office, Ramnarayan Tiwari, a Brahmin who cannot get over the humiliation of having to work under a much-younger and a much lower caste manager Narottam, who is a Dalit. Tiwari’s life is filled with bitterness.

Yes Sir, the most delightful story by Ajay Navaria.

It was directed by Ram Singh Patel.

The story follows the lives of Narottam, a Dalit who has risen to become Deputy General Manager and his peon is an older Brahmin man, Tiwari. Narottam is following all the haughtiness of the office babu class towards subordinates.

He is demeaning and sometimes rude to Tiwari, who burns with hatred and inwardly swears at him.

Besides, he even organizes Satyanarayan puja to get rid of him and considers polluting Narottam’s coffee but his need for a job and Narottam’s place in the office hierarchy keep him in check, leading to a brilliantly comical end.

Next play Vigrah Babu is yet another beautiful story written by Mithileshwar.

The play was directed by Kanhiyalal Kaithwas.

‘Vigrah Babu’ talks about the ill condition of a middle class family.

The play surrounds the life of Vigrah Babu who is a clerk in government office. The only breadwinner of his family, his whole life is engrossed in worries of how he would fulfill all responsibilities of family including marriage of his daughter.

Both the plays were beautifully presented and left the audience astonished.
