Step Inside The Porsche 718 Cayman GTS For A POV Night Drive

One doesn’t necessarily have to hit the track to enjoy a nicely sorted sports car like the 718 Cayman GTS.

Sometimes, taking it out for a quick spin at night is enough. Provided that you don’t encounter much traffic, the baby Porsche’s power is more than enough to give you an adrenaline rush.

Although many have whined about the switch to turbocharged flat-fours, you can’t argue with the 365PS (360hp / 269kW) and 430Nm (317lb-ft) of torque produced by the 2.5-liter engine in the GTS. The output is directed to the rear wheels through a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional dual-clutch PDK.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GTS is quicker from 0 to 100km/h (0-62mph) than some previous-gen supercars. It gets there in 4.6 seconds with the manual transmission, or 0.3 seconds quicker with the PDK. And in both cases, it maxes out at 290km/h (180mph).

For a sports car that has Porsche’s name written all over it, the 718 Cayman GTS isn’t as thirsty as one would expect. In fact, the automaker mentions numbers as low as 8.2 l/100 km (28.7 mpg US / 34.4 mpg UK) for the PDK-equipped model, on average, and CO2 emissions of 186 g/km, for the same version, all wrapped up in a package that starts from $84,430 in the USA for the PDK version, or $3,730 less if you opt for the stick shift.
