Ujjain : Kshipra haritima project was inaugurated by Union minister Thavarchand Gehlot on Saturday with a sapling plantation drive near the banks of the river Kshipra. The project was launched by the Ujjain Municipal Corporation and forest department.
Urban development minister Maya Singh, Narayansingh Kushwah, MLA Dilipsingh Shekhawat, former minister Ranjana Baghel, mayor Meena Jonwal, BJP district head Iqbalsingh Gandhi, UMC chairman Sonu Gehlot, BR Annagiri, forest officer PN Mishra and GP Mishra were present during the plantation programme.
Forest officials said to curb land erosion adjacent to the river banks, saplings will be planted in the 30 metres area on both sides of the river banks. Representatives and office-bearers of Marvel Academy English Group, Lions Club, Rupantaran Sanstha, Gayatri Pariwar, Kshtriya Mahasabha women wing, Digambar Jain Social Group, Jain Social Group, Paryawaran Sanrakshan Samiti, Government school of excellence echo club and Sanadya Brahmin Hitkar Sanstha also took part.
