Ujjain: The MP Outsourced Electricity Workers Association displayed 25 placards depicting various slogans against ‘Mama’ Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at their dharna site on Tower Chowk on 20nd day of their indefinite strike on Friday.
Addressing the media, association’s state convener Manoj Bhargava said that about 45, 000 outsourced workers of the state have been doing performing risky job in the department and are paid a meager Rs 6000 to 8000 per month as salary. He said that the Union government and a few state governments were paying Rs 18,000 to such employees, but in Madhya Pradesh despite serving for 6 to 12 years they were deprived of respectful salaries.
According to Bhargava, they were employed by about 30 private companies for six government companies and as such they were employee of the principle employer that is the state government. However, nobody is paying heed on these issues for a long time. He alleged that their condition was worst in comparison to contractual workers in wake of faulty policies of the state government and intervention of private contractors.
