Liberty Walk Transforms Daihatsu Copen Into Mini-Me Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R may be cheap for the performance it offers but in reality, it is out of the price range of most people. Thankfully, Liberty Walk has come to the rescue.

The famed tuning company has made a name for itself in recent years with other-worldly Lamborghini Aventadors with wide bodykits and massive rear wings.

The company’s latest project, however, focused on a much more affordable car: the diminutive Daihatsu Copen.

As standard, the Copen is a cute little kei car with a folding hard top. While it’s appealing to some, its design is a bit, well, “soft” and we wouldn’t want to be seen dead behind the wheel. Liberty Walk’s creation fixes that by turning the car into a pint-sized Nissan GT-R.

The front of Liberty Walk’s creation takes direct inspiration from the GT-R and includes the same grille, air intakes and LED daytime running lights, albeit reduced in size to fit the Copen. From there, the tuner has installed its customary flared wheel arches that sit over a set of deep-dish wheels.

At the rear, the GT-R theme continues with a large wing, an aggressive diffuser and the option of four circular tailpipes to complete the look.

On paper, a GT-R-inspired Daihatsu Copen sounds absolutely absurd. However, with looks this aggressive, it makes for an interesting proposition, as it looks way more aggressive than the donor car. In Japan, that is. Drive this thing in the United States and you’d get some funny looks.
