Policemen assaulted a youth for not stopping his two-wheeler when he was asked to do so.
P. Mamalraj (23), a driver at a private wind farm at Pasuvanthanai, was proceeding in a two-wheeler towards his home on Friday night. He was reportedly talking over the phone and did not stop when he was asked to do so. The enraged policemen chased him for a while and allegedly assaulted him.
The injured youth was admitted to the Kovilpatti Government Hospital. His relatives said that casteist comments were made against him after taking him to the police station. They demanded an apology and action against the policemen who had assaulted him.
