Bangkok, Indian ace shuttler PV Sindhu entered the semi-finals of the Thailand Open after thrashing Malaysia’s Soniia Cheah in the quarter-finals here on Friday.
Sindhu, the number two seed, thrashed Cheah in straight sets 21-17, 21-13 finishing the game in just 26 minutes.
The first game was a close contest, but Sindhu ended it by a brilliant forehand smash winning the first game.
In the second game, the Olympic silver medallist stood at her best and left no room and overpowered her opponent with six stright points to emerge victorious.
Earlier, Sindhu had beaten Pui Yin Yip in the pre-quarters by a 21-16, 21-14 margin. Cheah, however, had beaten Yiman Zhang 21-17, 21-17
India’s campaign in Bangkok ended after Satwik Rankireddy/Ashwini Ponnappa, HS Prannoy, Parupalli Kashyap, Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy all bowing out on Thursday.
Sindhu will now face Gregorian Mariska of Indonesia in the semi-finals on Saturday.
