Nagarnar will be future ‘Bhilai’ of Bastar: Raman

NMDC Ltd's upcoming Steel Plant at Nagarnar is a future 'Bhilai' of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Raman Singh said here on Friday .

The Steel Plant would open a new chapter in the history of Bastar's development, he said.

Earlier , 'Bhilai was a 'village' with population of 800 persons which is now counted among big cities of India, the Chief Minister said.

This very 'Nagarnar' will become a full-fledged city like 'Bhilai' after 10 years, Singh said.

A large number of industrial units will be established at Nagarnar which will provide a boost to development, the Chief Minister said while inaugurating a Community Building named 'Muriya Bhavan' in Bastar's district headquarters here.

The State Government had been working towards planned development of Bastar in the sectors of Education, Health, Agriculture and Telecommunications Connectivity, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself accords priority to development of Bastar. Work is underway to provide railway connectivity and train services have already commenced till Bhanupratappur.The work is now underway to connect Kondagaon with Jagdalpur, Singh said.

long with rail connectivity, the Government had been working towards providing telecommunications connectivity wherein women would be given smart phones, the Chief Minister said.

The 14 years of development of Bastar had been possible because of blessings of the people of Bastar, he said.
