HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has been introducing various welfare schemes for people belonging to BCs, has announced another scheme, “distribution of buffaloes to dairy farmers”.

He directed officials on Friday to distribute milch cattle to 2.13 lakh members of co-operative dairies. In addition to the unit cost of around

Rs 80,000, an amount of Rs 5,000 will be given towards transportation charges. SCs and STs will get 75 per cent subsidy and others 50 per cent subsidy on the unit cost. Members of co-operative dairies will be permitted to buy milch cattle from anywhere in the country.

Meanwhile, at a review, the CM directed officials to cover all eligible farmers under the scheme.  “Without any discrimination, all the eligible farmers aged between 18 and 60 years should get life insurance coverage,” he said.
