Man, 71, dies after M2 crash in Baulkham Hills
A 71-year-old man has died after being hit by a car while crossing the M2 motorway in Baulkham Hills on Saturday morning.
The driver of the car, who police said is a male believed to be in his mid-20s, stopped after the crash and has been taken to hospital for medical checks and other tests.
A spokeswoman for NSW Police said the man was crossing the motorway about 500 metres from the Windsor Road off-ramp when he was hit.
"Despite the efforts of emergency services, the 71-year-old man has died," according to a police statement.
The spokeswoman said she does not believe he was at a signalled crossing.
Police and ambulance services attended the crash at about 10.50am on Saturday.
The police spokeswoman said they are investigating the crash.
She said the 71-year-old man has not yet been formally identified or his family informed.
Eastbound lanes on the M2 approaching Windsor Road were closed after the crash but have now reopened.
