Children’s parl in city focusses on rights

A  State-level children’s parliament was held here on Friday. Different NGOs working for the rights and protection of children organised it.

Bikram Swain of Sahayog welcomed all children parliamentarians coming from different parts of Odisha and shared about the ‘9 is mine’ campaign. The main aim of the parliament is to promote children’s rights to participate “in all matters affecting the child”.

Denzil Basil from the 9 is mine campaign, Delhi office facilitated the process. The members in Odisha, Bijayalaxmi Rautaray, secretary, Sahayog, Usha Rani Behera (BGVS), Sankar Nadham (World Vision), D Swarupa (Sakar), Bipin Barik, Bulbul Swain from Surakshy were present. They mobilised the children to find out their issues and make a recommendation for all political parties to include in their party manifesto. “Vote for the children” echoed the hall.  The children representatives demanded that the forth coming Government should take information on child rights and result of breach of child right.
