EDMC organises workshop on sexual harassment of women, children

As part of the initiatives taken for the benefit and awareness of women and children, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) on Friday organised a workshop on sexual harassment of women and children at schools and workplaces.

This workshop was organised at the 'Institute of Teacher Training' in GTB Enclave, Nand Vihar.

EDMC additional Commissioner (Education) Alka Sharma said that it is the primary responsibility of teachers to educate students on this topic but also educate their colleagues and other school staff so that a safe harassment free environment could be provided to students.

A senior EDMC official said that children's psychology was discussed in detail during the workshop. “The women and children of EDMC schools were explained the ways to deal with sexual harassment,” he said.

He further informed that the corporation would also start nursery classes in 64 EDMC schools with the help of NGOs on issues like heath, hygiene and behavioural changes.
