Sarpanch of Dumerpita panchayat in the district has accused a local BJP leader of forcing her to stay away from her village for refusing to approve an illegal work order.

BALANGIR: Sarpanch of Dumerpita panchayat in the district has accused a local BJP leader of forcing her to stay away from her village for refusing to approve an illegal work order. Rina Bariha, the Sarpanch and resident of Satighat village under Deogaon block, alleged that the party leader Sashi Bhusan Sahu and some of his supporters threatened her of dire consequences if she entered the village.

She has been staying at a relative’s house at Dumerpita village for the last 15 days. Bariha and her husband met Balangir SP K Siva Subramani and lodged a complaint against the accused and sought police protection for herself and her family members.On June 28, a meeting took place between the Ward and Panchayat Samiti members of Dumerpita panchayat.
