WARANGAL: The body of
Sharath Koppu, who was shot dead by a robber in the US, arrived at his native Karimabad in
Warangal on Thursday. Sharath was killed last week in
Kansas. Koppu’s parents live in Ameerpet.
The last rites were performed at Karimabad cremation ground. Hundreds of students, relatives and local politicians paid floral tributes. They expressed condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
Deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari, Warangal East MLA Konda Surekha and Warangal rural
district collector M Haritha visited Karimabad and met Sharath’s family. Srihari consoled Sharath’s mother Malathi, and assured her that she will be transferred to Hyderabad. Her husband works with BSNL in Hyderabad.
Surekha and many other politicians too consoled Malathi. Gloom descended on the town as the body arrived.
