No controversy over Greenfield corridor

more-in

Law Minister C.Ve. Shanmugam on Thursday ruled out any controversy or difference of opinion in the government on the eight-lane Salem-Chennai greenfield corridor. The Opposition has been raising the issue only for want of any specific subject to do politics.

Talking to reporters after flagging off six new buses at the Villupuram central bus stand, he said the scheme was being implemented only after ascertaining the views of the local residents. Referring to the criticisms made by BJP national president Amit Shah against the ruling AIADMK, Mr. Shanmugam said that none had the qualification to comment on the AIADMK Government.

Replying to a question, he said that whoever is summoned by A. Arumughaswamy commission inquiring into the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa must appear before the commission. The Government has nothing to do with the role of the commission and the task assigned to it.

He also dubbed Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran as a lunatic over his recent remarks that Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam would not appear before the commission.
