BIHARSHARIF: Miscreants shot dead a 15-year-old boy and critically wounded his aunt at Saddu Bigha village under Nagarnausa police station area in Nalanda district.

A panchayat secretary was also killed in Dumri village under Parwalpur police station area on Wednesday night. According to police sources, some miscreants forcibly entered the house of one Sudama Yadav at Saddu Bigha village under Nagarnausa PS area and started thrashing his family members and when they resisted, they shot at Sudama’s 15-year-old son Virendra Kumar alias Chotu and his brother Nawal Kishore’s wife Sunaina Devi.

Virendra, who was critically injured, succumbed to injuries on way to Nagarnausa primary health centre (PHC), while his aunt Sunaina Devi (in her late 50s), who had sustained bullet injuries in her leg was sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

Sudama said that some children in his village had a fight with his children over a game on Thursday and the attack was probably a fallout of that incident.

Rejecting Sudama’s claim, Nagarnausa police station SHO Sanjay Kumar Verma said initial investigation suggested that the attack on Sudama's family was due to some land dispute with a group of villagers.

In another incident, miscreants shot dead a panchayat secretary at Dumri on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Pilich panchayat secretary Ras Bihari Singh.

The deceased’s cousin Surendra Singh said they were sleeping on the verandah of their house, when around 11.30pm five to six criminals brandishing small fire arms woke them from sleep and asked their names. They then took his cousin in the open and pumped three bullets. Ras Bihari succumbed on way to Parwalpur primary health centre.

The family has named a former mukhiya of their panchayat as accused.
