Schools to remain open in Azamgarh

VARANASI: The Azamgarh district administration withdrew an order announcing a holiday for schools ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's visit to the district , late Wednesday night.

According to an office memo issued on Wednesday evening by Azamgarh basic shiksha adhikari (BSA) Devendra Kumar Pandey, the decision was changed after discussions with higher authorities.

Now, all schools will remain open on July 14, he said.

Earlier, the education department had on July 9 announced a special holiday in all schools and inter colleges affiliated to various boards in the district so that teachers and students could attend PM's programmes.

According to the BSA, the principals and managers of various schools of ICSE, CBSE and UP Boards had requested the district magistrate to announce a public holiday in schools so that they can attend the PM's programmes on July 14.
