A bootlegger, who used to smuggle spurious liquor by using fake labels of liquor brands with “defence canteen supply” written on them, has been arrested, said the police on Thursday.
The accused, Narendra Kumar alias Dhilla, hails from Jhajjar district in Haryana. The police have recovered 211 bottles of liquor with fake labels of IMFL brands from him.
The accused revealed that he used to procure empty bottles of various brands from ragpickers. He used to dilute the original liquor with water and other ingredients to increase the quantity in a godown in Sonepat.
“He was on the way to deliver a consignment in Okhla Phase-III, when he was held. Illicit liquor bottles were found inside his car,” said DCP (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal.
