Ujjain: A National Lok Adalat will be organized on Saturday in the district as per the directives of National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi and MP State Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur.
District and sessions judge RK Wani told media on Thursday that 44 benches have been formed across the district to dispose-off more than 5000 litigations on the basis of mutual consensus. According to him, the final settlement of pending litigations could be solved through such forums, which was the reason that people were showing deep interest towards the event every year. He informed that a fruit plant would be distributed to every litigant free-of-cost during the programme, so as to promote plantation drive.
National Lok Adalat convener Gajendra Singh informed that special relaxation in the fees will be provided to e-litigants in the cases related to MPEB and UMC. He said to cases of wrong assessment of domestic and commercial electricity bills, a special board would be formed to reconsider such cases. He informed that concerned parties could approach courts concerned in advance so that their cases could be taken up for settlement on a priority basis. Likewise, those litigants who have not got the notices from the Lok Adalat may also reach the courts on that day.
District Legal Service Authority secretary Padmesh Shah informed that cases like criminal, civil, electricity act, labour, motor accident claim, bank recovery, pre-litigations, etc. will be resolved by the National Lok Adalat. The parties have been appealed that those who want to get their case resolved through the National Lok Adalat could get the matter settled on the due date. The district court will constitute the benches for resolving the cases by mutual settlement in all the five tehsils of Ujjain district. Cases of bounced cheques, bank recovery, labour dispute, water tax, debt recovery, criminal cases, merchantable cases of Electricity Act, all civil cases, motor accident cases matters related to family disputes will be resolved through a mutual agreement under the guidance of National Lok Adalat. Ujjain Municipal Corporation has declared a slab wise rebate on water tax and property tax payment.
UMC to take tough stance against property tax defaulters
Ujjain Municipal Corporation will take strict action against the property tax defaulters who have not paid their tax for a long period. Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal appealed to all tax payers to pay their dues as early as possible, to ward off any legal action.
