SRINAGAR: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and another injured in a terror attack in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday. Lashkar-e-Taiba has taken responsibility of the attack.

Sources said the LeT terrorists attacked a CRPF party near Achabal, resulting in injuries to three jawans and a civilian. The injured were taken to a hospital, where two jawans died during treatment. The deceased were identified as assistant sub inspector ML Meena and constable Sandeep Singh Yadav.

In north Kashmir's Kupwara, police exhumed the bodies of two terrorists who were killed and buried there after an encounter at Machil sector on June 6. The bodies were handed over to their families after a DNA test confirmed their identities.

Zahid Rashid Bhat of Kulgam and Nissar Ahmad Bhat of Anantnag were buried near the Line of Control (LoC) after police failed to ascertain their identities more than a month ago. However, their families submitted pleas for exhumation after their pictures circulated online. On Friday, thousands of people attended the funeral prayers and chanted pro-azadi slogans.
