Pb health dept gives jobs on compensate ground

Chandigarh: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Department on Thursday handed over the appointement letters to 37 candidates on compassionate ground. Health and Welfare Department director Dr Jaspal Kaur said that appointment letters to 37 candidates for the post of clerk and Class-IV have been handed over to the eligible dependents of deceased employees. The Minister in-charge Brahm Mohindra has issued strict instructions to deal with all pending cases of jobs on compassionate ground on priority. Complying the instructions, outstanding cases were finalized and today appointed letters were given to the eligible candidates.

e-cigarettes, tobacco products seized in raid

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has initiated a statewide crusade to curb use of tobacco and habit making products to save children and youth across the State under ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’. Special enforcement drives are being conducted in all districts for strict implementation of the anti-tobacco laws. A Health department’s team had raided shop near railway station at Amritsar, and seized 160 packets of illicit cigarettes, four e-cigarettes and three hookahs on the spot. Challan under COTPA-2003 were issued against the violators.

Punjab VB nabs AFSO for taking bribe

Chandigarh: Punjab State Vigilance Bureau on Thursday nabbed an Assistant Food and Supplies Officer (AFSO), posted at Sanour in Patiala district, red handed for accepting Rs 20,000 bribe. Spokesperson said that AFSO Jeevan Kumar was caught red handed on the complaint of Jagwinder Singh of Bhanri village in Patiala district. Complainant had alleged that AFSO was demanding Rs 25,000 for issuing him a license to open new ration depot in his village and deal was struck at Rs 20,000. After verifying his complaint, VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses.

Punjab VB nabs 19 employees during June

Chandigarh: Punjab State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, has been able to nab 19 officers of different departments red handed while accepting bribes during the month of June, which included nine police personnel, three of revenue department and seven of other departments. All the apprehended officers or officials were booked under different provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Spokesperson said that during June, the special courts while deciding cases filed and contested by Vigilance Bureau had pronounced sentences from three to 10 years to five accused in different cases.

 

YMCA to start 26 new courses

Chandigarh: YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad, has announced to start 26 new certificate, diploma, advance diploma and bachelor in vocation (BVoc) courses ranging from a period of 15 days to five years under the Community College of Skill Development (CCSD) in the new academic session 2018-19. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dinesh Kumar said that courses being started in new academic session included refrigeration, air-conditioning, home appliances, electrician, fitter, turner, welding, web designing, computer software, hardware and networking, beautification and yoga and naturopathy, for which applications have been invited. The minimum qualification for all courses is matric and 10+2 and last date for application is August 16, 2018.

Hry gives subsidy to curb stubble burning

Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare’s principal secretary Dr Abhilaksh Likhi on Thursday said that the State Government has been providing subsidy up to 80 percent on agricultural equipment such as straw chopper, zero tillage, happy seeder, rotavator, salensar, mulcher, reversible plough and 40 percent subsidy on other agriculture equipment such as tractor and laser leveler so that crop residue should not be burnt and instead be suppressed in the soil to maintain the fertility of the land. Apart from this, 50 percent subsidy is also being given to farmers in individual category on modern agriculture equipment being used in crop residue management.

Haryana presents State Handicraft Awards

Chandigarh: Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Vipul Goel on Thursday presented State Handicraft Award-2016 to eight artisans of the State. He said that the first award of Rs three lakh each in terracotta and wood and bamboo categories was given to Tulsi Ram, a resident of Faridabad and Surya Kant, a resident of Bahadurgarh, respectively. Similarly, consolation prizes of Rs 51,000 each has been given to Jyoti from Bahadurgarh in painting category, Daya Ram from Faridabad in terracotta, Sudesh from Panipat in embroidery and textile, Joginder from Bhiwani in wood and bamboo, Tulsi Dass from Rewari in metal crafts and Meera Thakur from Panchkula in miscellaneous category.

Solanki to preside over a musical evening event

Chandigarh: Pranav Entertainers would be organizing a musical evening on July 15 at Tagore Theater, Sector 18, Chandigarh. Haryana Governor Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki would be the chief guest and Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Vipul Goel would preside over this function.
