Former DGCA chief Kanu Gohain dies after brief illness

Former General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) died today after a brief illness, according to family sources.

He was 68 years old and is survived by two sons. His wife died of cancer last year, they said.

Gohain, who was the last technocrat to head the of Civil Aviation (DGCA), retired from services in 2008.

After retirement, he became a on the board of Indamer, an MRO company.

Gohain breathed his last at Hospital here at around 9 am, the sources said.

He was admitted for acute dehydration but later developed infection as well, they added.

His cremation would take place tomorrow.
