BHUBANESWAR: A 53-year-old man was arrested by police for killing his younger brother over a trivial issue on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Durga Charan Parida and the deceased Dhirendra Kumar Parida. According to sources, Durga and Dhirendra had an argument over grinding of catechu (khaira) in their house at Prachi Vihar under Mancheswar police limits. Natives of Jajpur, the two brothers were staying together in the Capital for the last several years.
Their two other brothers, Niranjan and Bira Kishore were also staying in the Capital, but separately. On Thursday, Durga was upset with Dhirendra for compelling him to toil harder. An argument ensued between the two following which Durga hit Dhirendra on the head with a blunt object, which he was using for grinding catechu. Niranjan and Bira Kishore, who were present in the house, rushed Dhirendra to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
A forensic team visited Durga’s house in the evening and investigation is on. Bira Kishore has lodged a complaint, basing on which we have nabbed Durga and a murder case will be registered, Mancheswar police station IIC KP Mishra said. While Durga is not married, Dhirendra is survived by his wife and two children.
