BENGALURU: A 42-year-old woman and her 20-year-old son from Soladevanahalli allegedly murdered a realtor and dumped his body in a canal near KR Pet in
Mandya district recently.
The accused, Roshan has been arrested, while his mother,
Jubina, attempted suicide on realising that police were on her trail. The woman is recuperating in hospital and will be arrested once she is discharged. They have been accused of murdering Bashir Ahmad Angadi, 37, who lived with them and was from
Vijayapura.
Soladevanahalli police said Bashir was unmarried and shifted to Bengaluru along with Eliyas, husband of Jubina, 18 years ago. He stayed in Eliyas’s residence. Eliyas, who ran used-vehicle and realty businesses near his house, treated Bashir like his own son.
Eliyas returned home from a business trip recently and realised that Bashir was missing. Jubina told Eliyas that Bashir had not returned home from work on June 30. Eliyas lodged a missing person complaint on July 4.
When grilled, Jubina and Roshan gave contradictory statements to police. Jubina also attempted suicide by consuming 30 sleeping pills.
Meanwhile, cops received an intimation about a highly decomposed body floating in a canal near KR Pet on Wednesday. Bashir’s parents identified the body; his teeth helped in the identification. Soon, a police team picked up Roshan. Upon questioning, Roshan confessed that he and his mother had killed Bashir.
Police said Jubina and Roshan killed Bashir as he demanded a share from their joint business. Quizzed by cops, Jubina tried to kill herself.
