The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) has a pivotal role in creating a committed Civil Service cadre that could efficiently implement government policies, Education Minister C. Ravindranath has said.
Inaugurating the 45th State conference of the Kerala PSC Employees Union here on Friday, Mr. Ravindranath said that the State needed efficient teachers to implement the general education protection drive, doctors and nurses to execute the programmes under the Aardram Mission and the PSC has a significant role in recruiting staff to create such a cadre.
The uncertainty gripping the job sector has led to inequality and the working class is seriously concerned over the current situation. The State government is trying to stall the spread of communalism by promoting and nurturing general education that fosters secularism. New work culture
Labour Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan, who inaugurated the session held to bid farewell to retiring members of the union, said that the government is committed to protecting labour rights. The amendments proposed to the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act to protect the rights of women employees is the best instance in this score.
It was the consistent efforts of the Left Democratic Front in 1996 that helped to expedite the publication of rank lists. Now, the recruitment process from each list is being completed within three years and this was proof of its efficiency. Union leaders K.Sebastian and B.Jayakumar also addressed the session.
