KOCHI: The Corporation, in association with the students of Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering, Kadayiruppu, has launched a unique app for resolving the parking issues in the city. Lanciar park, which is now available on the Android platform, allows drivers to see the parking spaces in a locality from a distance. "Lanciar park is an innovative parking app with unique userfriendly futuristic features meant for private vehicle owners. It can solve all the parking problems.

With Lanciar park your vehicle is assured of a parking slot while on the move," Mayor Soumini Jain said in a release. According to Jain, it will show the route map to the selected parking lot and the user can add frequently used parking slots as favourites. " In the future, the app will allow users to book a parking slot if the same is available. The user will be able to see the live availability slots in a parking lot and will be able to book a slot," she said. The app will also notify major events/programmes which may lead to parking congestion and suggest an alternate parking lot to the required user.

The machine learning-based prediction feature of the system will inform the user of the future status of the parking lot. " This kind of an app is needed for a a popular tourist destination like Kochi since it enables travellers to find parking spaces. As a result, the under-utilised parking spaces can be used effectively which will help to reduce the traffic congestion in the city," said Jain.
