Guntur: In yet another prestigious recognition, Rail Vikas Bhavan (DRM office), Guntur has been awarded first prize in the category of best office premises (public) by Andhra Pradesh Greening and Beautification Corporation.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) VG Bhooma will receive the award from chief minister Chandrababu Naidu at a function to be held to launch 'Vana Mahotsavam' at Nuzvid here on Saturday.
The DRM office has got the green building certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) in April. The premises and complex of Rail Vikas Bhavan was put under surveillance by the IGBC audit teams for about six months and granted it platinum certificate for its world class maintenance of greenery.
“Getting selected for the first prize by the state government is a result of relentless work by the staff. It also enhances our responsibility in managing our complex with more care,” said DRM Bhooma. She said that they were planning to bring railway stations and quarters campuses into green zones to protect the environment. She observed that growing more plants was going to save the mother earth from the future calamities.
