HYDERABAD: A 59-year-old retired constable of the CRPF shot himself on Thursday morning in Jawaharnagar police limits. The deceased was identified as M Ramulu, a resident of Pragathi Nagar.

Ramulu shot himself using his licenced gun right outside his house at around 8.10am. According to police, the deceased retired nearly seven years ago and for the past one year was suffering from an illness.

“He had suffered two paralysis attacks in the past one year and had a swollen throat due to his illness. Facing health issues, he was depressed. We suspect this could be the reason for his suicide. We did not get any suicide note from the spot,” said Jawaharnagar inspector, Ashok Kumar.

He was living with his wife, a private employee. After his wife left the house for work, Ramulu committed suicide.

The neighbours alerted the police after hearing the gunshot. “He had put the gun inside his mouth and pulled the trigger. He was standing near a compound wall outside his house,” said police. Ramulu was rushed to Gandhi Hospital, however, was declared brought dead. After an autopsy, his body was handed over to the family. Ramulu has two married sons and a daughter. Following the incident, police have registered a suspicious death case under section 174 in The Code Of Criminal Procedure at Jawaharnagar police station.
