GANDHINAGAR: With a view to enhance civic amenities in three major municipal corporations – Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Rajkot – the urban development department of the
Gujarat government on Friday sanctioned as many as seven 'Town Planning' (TP) schemes in the state. Of them, three primary TPs – 15-Vavdi, 12-Kotharia, and 27-Mavdi - are in Rajkot; two final TPs– Vatva and Kadi - are in Ahmedabad; and two draft TPs – Sanathal-Navapur and Sevasi - are in Vadodara.
Chief minister Vijay Rupani had instructed the administration to work in such a way that the citizens get better amenities and authorities get plots for the public purposes. As a result of this, as many as 50-odd DP/TP schemes have been sanctioned in the last five months.
In Rajkot, the authorities in total would get nearly 111 plots covering 681,623 sq metres. They included total 33 plots covering 165,580 sq meter in Kotharia-TP, total 27 plots covering 225,711 sq metre in Vavdi-TP, and total 51 plots covering 289,332 sq metre in Mavdi TP. On these plots public amenities like public parks, open space, residences for economically weaker sections and others will be developed.
