DGP asks cops to be polite to people

A review meeting of crime through video conferencing  chaired by director general of police (DGP) Uttarakhand Anil K Raturi was held in at the police headquarters here on Thursday.  The top police brass from the districts attended the meeting.

In his address, DGP emphasized the need for police to behave well with the people and to ensure transparency in the policing system. He also sounded unhappy  over the cases pending for a year and more.

He also stressed on an action plan to streamline and improve traffic being firmed up in every district. He also laid emphasis on proper crowd control measures being taken in view of the Kanwad pilgrimage and Shiv Ratri.  

Additional director general (ADG) Law and Order Ashok Kumar said that use of CCTV footages in cases related to  vehicle thefts is not satisfactory.

Guidelines have been given by the DGP during  the video conferencing that the crime cases related to rape should be concluded  in two months. Besides, he cautioned the cops against lowering guard when the accused of dreaded crimes are transported for court appearance.

He also asked for strict action against those found rumour mongering on the social media.

DGP asked the department to deal stringently with the goons under the gangster act and to form a three-layer  anti-drug task force at the police station, district and state levels.
