Two arrested with Rs 3 crore heroin

LUDHIANA: The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two men with 600g heroin, worth Rs 3 crore, on Thursday.
The accused have been identified as Sukhpreet Singh, 34, of Chhawni Mohalla and Vinay Kalra, 30, of Bhagwan Das Colony. The police have also seized a scooter on which they were smuggling drugs.

Sub-inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge, STF Ludhiana, said the police arrested the duo from Basti Jodhewal Chowk following a tip-off. They were crossing the area when police stopped them for checking. The police recovered 600g heroin from their possession.

The accused informed that they had procured heroin from a man named Raja, who had delivered the consignment near Buddhan Nullah bridge in Salem Tabri.

The official shared that Sukhpreet Singh ran a fastfood cart, while Vinay Kalra works at a salon. The accused themselves are drug addicts and started peddling drugs to meet their requirement, police said.

A case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the duo at Daresi police station.
