HYDERABAD: As many as 14,491 engineering and 2,946 pharmacy seats went vacant after the second phase of counselling, allotment of which was declared by
Navin Mittal,
commissioner of technical education on Thursday.
According to the figures released, of the 65,648
engineering seats available for academic year 2018-19, 51,157 were allotted. Similarly, of the 3,087 pharmacy seats, only 141 seats were allotted after the conclusion of second phase of seat allotment. There were total 13,206 fresh allotments in the second phase, limiting the percentage of allotments to 74.18 percent by the end of the phase.
The number of engineering colleges which achieved 100% allotments were to the tune of 60 of which 12 were constituent colleges of the university and 48 private colleges. While only two colleges registered zero admission, seven registered single digit admissions, 24 registered less than 50 admissions and 43 registered less than 100 admissions.
In engineering, 3,026 seats have been allotted in 14 government colleges and 48,131 seats have been allotted in 175 private colleges. Similarly, 23 seats have been allotted in three government pharmacy colleges and 118 seats have been allotted in 110 private pharmacy colleges.
The number of qualified candidates for the second phase were 1,02,615 of which 4594 fresh candidates attended the certificate verification process. About 38,363 exercised their right to web options. As many as 1856 candidates were not allotted any seat despite giving options.
The candidates can make the payments on or before July 15. All candidates have to report respective colleges till July 16. "Eligible candidates can participate in the next round of counselling for change of college or branch," reads the press statement issued by Mittal.
